I first built this computer back in 2021, when I was 14. I had been wanting a gaming PC for Christmas,
and I had been looking at some prebuilts online.
Then, I got a Linus Tech Tips video recommended on my Youtube
feed which was about how to build a PC. I had no idea that was even possible, that you could build a computer,
so I clicked on it, and from then on, I was hooked.
I instantly started watching tons of other videos,
learning, researching, and gaining information on how to build my own computer. I even ended up making a Reddit
account so I could browse and ask questions on the plentiful computer-building related communities.
I got some
money saved up from baking and selling cookies at local garage sales, and when I had finally planned all the parts
of my build, I bought everything. It wasn't the best computer, since I was on a budget and since it was in the
middle of a GPU shortage thanks to Covid and the popularity of crypto-mining, but it was enough to play some games
and it made me happy.
It started with a measly 4-core CPU (Ryzen 3 3200g) with integrated graphics, 8GB of RAM, and
a 500GB SSD. Since then I've learned, tinkered, and upgraded it (while spending most of my money on it) and it has
basically shaped me into who I am today, influencing what classes I have taken, what college major to choose, and
the career path I want to follow.
